Five phases. In the same order. Every time.
Every watercolor I paint is built in these five phases: the Foundation Wash, the Dry Brush Detail, the Shadow Layer, the Deep Detail, and the Shadow Pop Colour.
The subject changes. The order never does. Knowing the order is the first step. Getting it right in your own painting, with someone looking at it, is the rest.
